About the AHA’s Annual Conference

At the American Humanist Association’s Annual Conference, we’re leading a movement for humanists to live empowered, purpose-driven lives rooted in reason, compassion, and the pursuit of a better world. Through inspiration, education, and action, we help individuals make a meaningful impact on society, guided by humanist values. This is the secular conference where you’ll think the hardest, be inspired the most, and encounter some of the most innovative and promising ideas in the field of humanism.

We’re reclaiming the humanist movement’s heritage as the birthplace of America’s best ideas. From secular public schools to reproductive rights to popular science and the March on Washington, humanists have always thought at the boundaries of the possible and boldly proposed ideas that moved America forward - more open, more innovative, and more humane.

Now, we’re coming together in Chicago, where the original Humanist Manifesto was written 92 years ago, for a conference where we’ll present, debate, and elevate the newest ideas in the humanist movement.

Through three days of dynamic debates, mainstage presentations from visionary thinkers, interactive salons, and awards ceremonies for the brightest stars in our movement you’ll be challenged, enthralled, and, ultimately, a participant in writing the next chapter of the humanist story.
